Christina is one of the celebrity panel members for the January 2009 issue of Elle (UK Edition) magazine’s “50 Rules of Style” list. Other people on the panel include Chloë Sevigny, ELLE fashion director Anne-Marie Curtis, singer Róisín Murphy and fashion designer Katharine Hamnett. Actress Christina Ricci, ELLE fashion director Anne-Marie Curtis, singer Róisín Murphy and fashion designer Katharine Hamnett all join Sevigny on the panel. ‘I used to try building outfits around one key piece, such as a great pair of shoes. I’d end up trying on a million things to go with them and still nothing would look right. I’ve learned to take a more flexible approach to getting dressed,’ reveals Chloe Sevigny, while actress Christina Ricci tells us, ‘Don’t be afraid to use distraction – if a look isn’t working as well as you hoped and you’re running out of time, compensate with fabulous make-up. A vivid slick of eye liner or nail polish work for me. Or reach for ridiculously huge sunglasses – that old standby saves us all.’

Other gems include Roisin Murphy’s key shopping tip, ‘Embrace the menswear department. Menswear can make for a really avant-garde daywear look.’ And wise words from ELLE’s Fashion Director Anne-Marie Curtis, ‘To avoid morning panic dressing, plan the next day’s outfit each evening, with your schedule and the weather forecast in mind. Then inject personality by choosing your shoes in the morning.’
